The National RANK & BOLT awards Instructions - Air India

Instructions for those bidding for the Air India RANK National Awards



1. Who are eligible?



a. Those who have been awarded the State RANK Awards.

b. Individuals should have received an invitation to send in their bids.



2. The judging for the National Awards:



Day / Date : World Ozone day or as specified

Time : 1000 hours onwards

Venue : Will be notified



3. Your travel to/from and stay at Mumbai:



i. Air India is happy to provide for your transportation to / from Mumbai and for your stay .

ii. Your travel itinerary will be sent to you.

iii. If you are required to take a bus or a train to the airport shown
on your air ticket, you will need to make your own arrangements to buy
your train [2nd class AC or equivalent] or bus ticket [luxury or
equivalent].

iv. Preserve these tickets and carry one set of photocopies to claim
reimbursement from Air India. We will pay this to you at Mumbai.

v. We will advise you about the dispatch of your tickets.

vi. An Air Indian will meet you on arrival. We will give you h-is/er
name and employee number. Every Air Indian carries an official identity
card.

vii. At Mumbai you will be staying at a facility that will be specified and we will let you know about the address.



4. The dress code for the interview:



i. Gentlemen, we will expect you in a tie.

ii. Ladies, in formal attire Indian or Western or Traditional.



5. The selection process.



a. You have to submit a written document [see para 6 below]

b. A panel of distinguished judges will interview you.





6. Your written document checklist.

i. Introduce yourself in approximately 300 words not exceeding one A4 sheet of paper.

Mark this sheet on the top right hand corner as “1”.



ii. Write your Mission Statement in approximate 300 words not exceeding
one A4 sheet of paper. Mark this sheet on the top right hand corner as
“2”.



iii. On one A4 sheet of paper state your goals

* Long terms [20 years]

* Intermediate term [10 years]

* Near future [5 years]

* Short term [now to 5 years].

Mark this sheet on the top right hand corner as “3”.



iv. As a Student what 3 practical actions do you commit yourself to, to
practice responsible and active citizenship at home; at your school /
college / institution and in your neighbourhood on one A4 sheet of
paper.

Mark this sheet on the top right hand corner as “4”.



v. As a Student what 3 practical actions do you commit yourself to, to
work towards preserving the environment at home; through your school /
college / institution and in your neighbourhood, on one A4 sheet of
paper.

Mark this sheet on the top right hand corner as “5”.



vi. On one A4 sheet of paper tell us about your hobby and how does your
hobby help you to achieve your goals and/or helps with your individual
& personality development.

Mark this sheet on the top right hand corner as “6”.
















7. How to send your award bid material to us.



a. Only use one side of the paper.

b. Use different A4 sheets for each section.

c. Make three copies of your submission.

d. Place these three sets in 3 L plastic folders.

e. Use an A4 size cloth envelope to mail the three copies of your
award bid in the L plastic folders to us by speed post only. Do not use
a courier service. Do not fax the material to us.

f. On every sheet of paper please ensure that you write your complete control number in a box at the bottom right hand corner.

g. All submissions must be neatly typed or computer generated.

h. Do not send your original certificates and testimonials.

i. Do not attach any other material to your award bid submission.

j. Please remember to carry one set of your award submission [pages 1 to 6] with you in person.

k. Last date for receipt of your material by this office will be September 1, of the calendar year.

ix. As a Teacher, on one A4 sheet of paper submit the design of a
curriculum to be adopted by the students of your school / college /
institution under the guidance of the teaching fraternity to create,
evolve and work a plan to sustain the environment.

Mark this sheet on the top right hand corner as “6”.



7. How to send your award bid material to us.

As a State / National Winner you will visit Singapore as guests of Air India.



Here are some details for you:



Dear RANK & BOLT state / National Award Winner,



Your visa, have you obtained this because without this you will not be able to travel to Singapore.



Your travel to the assembly point.

Please see Attachment ‘A’ for details of the assembly point.

If there is train or bus travel involved then you must arrange for your
train or bus tickets and reservations. Remember to retain the ticket
for claiming reimbursement from us.

We regret that we will not be able to reimburse you without a supporting ticket.

Your domestic air ticket [where ever applicable], will be sent to you by Speed Post.



Your travel to Singapore.

Your international air ticket will be also been sent to you. On
departure the accompanying Air India official will collect this ticket
and retain this with h-im/er.














Your final itinerary will be mailed to you two weeks before your departure.

Please do not deviate from this itinerary.



A packing list for your use follows.



The complete list of award winners from the States of India will be made available to you.



The names of individual award winners with whom you will be sharing
your hotel room will be sent to you. This list may change as we go
along as some of the award winners may not have their travel documents
in place, in time.



A list of important telephone numbers that you must carry with you and
leave a copy behind at home for your family will be sent to you.

Attachment ‘A’


Note #1:

Check your domestic Indian Airlines Ticket.

If your ticket is to Mumbai the assembly point is, Mumbai.

If your ticket is to some other point in India then that point will be your assembly point














When you land at Assembly point Airport, please wait at the baggage
delivery belt for someone from Air India to meet you. Remember, every
Air Indian wears an identity card.





Note #2: For State Award winners from the sates of Arunachal Pradesh /
Assam / Manipur / Meghalaya / Mizoram / Nagaland / Sikkim / and
Tripura, Kolkata will be your first assembly point.



When you land at Kolkata Airport, please wait at the baggage delivery belt for someone from Air-India to meet you.



Your packing list for Singapore:



1. Toothbrush, toothpaste, face towel, shaving kit.

2. Hair oil, washing soap, shampoo, towel, comb/hairbrush, cream/lotion, face powder, talcum powder, hair band, hair clip.

3. Clothes

Casuals - Jeans, T-shirts, Kurtas, Dresses, Canvas/Sports shoes, socks, scarves, hat/cap.

Formal - Blouse/Skirt, Shirt/Trouser, Black/Brown Shoes, Socks, Salwar-Kameez, Sarees, Dresses

Night wear - Night gown, pajama suit, slippers.

4. Medicine kit

* Medication that is taken regularly.

Please carry enough for 10 days in your hand bag.

Do not pack your medicines in your suitcase.

* Band-aid

* Vicks / Moov – any balm for pain relief/sprains

* Medication for fever, cold, travel sickness, stomach upsets, allergy and rashes.










5. Torch, Lock and Key.

6. Writing material – diary / note book, pen/pencil etc., and a small sling bag to carry the same.

7. Stick an itemized list of things inside of the bag.

8. All baggage must have a name and address label, one inside and one outside the bag.

9. In case of an emergency the telephone contact of the parent /
guardian / spouse. Give these to the Air-India official escorting you
at the briefing session.

10. Carry money on your person. Do not carry too much money.



Do not carry following:

a. Chewing gum / Bubble gum [these are banned in Singapore]

b. Expensive jewelry, expensive watches, expensive electronic items.

c. Toy guns / weapons.



Boys / Men: please make sure that your hair is trimmed above the shirt collar. Long hair is not permitted in Singapore.

Award Winners: Carry only as much luggage as you can manage
yourself. One medium sized suitcase and one hand bag should be
sufficient for your trip. You are allowed only 20 Kgs of free
baggage. For excess baggage there will be charge of ---Singapore
Dollars xxx/Kg.!!!!!!!.

It was a great moment of satisfaction when one of our BOLT Award
winners was appointed the Vice Chancellor of the MG University,
Kottayam. And, to date 122 teachers and students from across India
have visited Singapore as our ambassadors.
