Zuckerberg - Say`s I Don't Care About Money

Mark Zuckerberg went on a revealing rant the other day when asked how Facebook's new privacy settings would affect its business model. “We didn't talk about revenue at all,” he replied, and implied that he and his cohorts never thought about it. He said they genuinely believe Facebook will be "one of the most transformative things to build in the world," but "we need to build a good company in order to do it." David Kirkpatrick, author of The Facebook Effect, transcribed the whole speech, in part because Zuckerberg referenced the book's account of how he fended off early buy-out offers. “We were 22 years old, people were offering us a billion dollars,” he said. When they turned that down, “you kind of reach this point where, like, you're not making decisions to maximize the amount of money that you're making.” While Facebook needs ad revenue to survive, he says that when they're building services, revenue “factors in, like, not at all.”
